Today, systems of IP protection are becoming a frontier of national economies and one of the basic aspects of their competitiveness. Problems of IP and ways of its protection attract more and more attention from business, politicians, and public. The chief of the USA Patent and Trademark Office has the status of a minister and attends government sessions and international summits. Let’s clarify the notion of game as we shall use it in the venture business context, our point of reference being the book Homo Ludens (1938) by J. Huysinga who heralds Game as the predecessor to human culture and as the latter’s great locomotion. Religion has grown out of sacred games. Music and the dance were once part of the Game. Law is rooted in the games of human interrelation. The medieval jousts and societal formalities were based on games. Commercial affairs of humankind have to do with the economic contest. Competition is integral part of the Game. It concerns the sports, the market, the warfare. Another type of game is tempting one’s fate, e.g. the roulette or the totalizator. Venture business claps together the two sides of the game into a new unity. What’s in a game?
